Whether you like to relax, chill out, take a break or go out it doesn’t matter how you call it “a coffee break” in Nisyros has so many enchanting interpretations of the concept, finding a favourite chill out spot will be easy to choose. Some Café places open from day light and others later on nevertheless still await you to have a café or a sandwich in the morning or noon, whether they’re in town or by the beach front.

Nisyros has a lot of traditional recipes that you have try.  One of the local special plates is a pie called Pythia made from chickpeas. There are the local cheeses kopanisti and sakouliasti that are worth trying with a piece of rusk and also an almond flavoured non alcoholic drink called soumada. There are several taverns in Mandraki and you will also find traditional fish-taverns in the villages of Nisyros.

Mandraki offers a night out for drinks and food, on its port front and at the Ilikiomenon Square (Elderly), where the traditional coffee places stay open from morning until late at night. Enjoy the delicious appetizers (mezedes) which have the best quality you can get. In Palous village there is a restaurant that stays open all year round and is famous for is well cooked local meat.

Nisyros manages to successfully combine a legacy of traditional products and technology. Visitors will notice that there are many shops on the island where you can buy pictures and ceramics and also textile products, local wine and sweets from little shops in Mandraki.
